Steve Abee is one of a handful of potters that produce their wares with techniques almost forgotten by the passing of time. Steve utilizes the lessons of the past to inform his creations for the future. Using 19th century methods of turning, glazing, and firing his kiln, he has kept a continuous line of traditional potters craft alive.
Steve uses locally dug clay, mixes his glaze from wood-ash, and fires his wares in a wood-burning kiln.
The practice of using these methods and resources gives his creations a feeling of time and place and he hopes that comes through in every piece.
